The ancient saying goes: Most generals come from Guan Xi, while ministers come from Guan Dong.

He Yan was born to be a Star General.

She was merely a stepping stone for her family, and was used as her brother’s substitute. She had fought on the battlefields for years, bringing peace to Xi Qiang, stopping the barbarians… When her brother recovered, she gave up her position with great laurels brought to her name. Without further ado, she was married off.

During her married life, she was forsaken by her husband and even suffered from a strange illness, thereby losing her eyesight…

The young and pretty concubine stood in front of her, speaking softly: “The decoction you drank that made you blind was instructed by the elders of your family. As you know, the dead tell no tales. If you lived, you would be your family’s greatest threat!”

A great general of her time, the heroine of the country, died pitifully in the hands of those shameless women, who only knew to fight for a man’s favor… How absurd!

When she opened her eyes again, she had become the drill fields officer’s daughter, who was weak and arrogant, innocent and naive.

They had stolen her glory, taken her life, lead her army and betrayed her feelings! She had crawled back from the depths of hell and would take back everything she had lost, one by one.

Bring the world under her feet and with her beauty and nobility, overwhelm the nine prefectures!

But would she get out easily once she entered the barracks?

Hardly did she begin her adventures when He Yan met her arch-enemy of the previous lifetime, that young hunk whose “enemies would retreat as soon as he attacked”.

The chic and cool female general versus the handsome and ravenous young man. Two efficient generals team up to conquer the world!

Each new installment in this series consistently leaves me wondering if it can surpass its predecessor, and with each subsequent chapter, my answer is an enthusiastic "yes." This combination of humor, heartwarming moments, and a deliberately slow-paced romantic development is almost painfully slow, yet enchantingly so. The depth of connection between the main characters as they genuinely get to know each other is truly remarkable, making for a captivating read.

Your writing is exquisite, leaving me at a loss for words – a true masterpiece. This is a must-read, as it tugs at your heartstrings alongside He Yan, whose love, though painful, finds healing in Xiao Jue's unwavering affection. Xiao Jue is undoubtedly the男主角 I admire most, with every aspect worthy of praise. The deeper you delve into his character, the more you fall under his spell.

He Yan, his equal in strength, possesses a kind and resilient spirit despite the betrayals she has faced. Her purity and simplicity only serve to solidify their destined bond. Together, they form an inspiring and breathtaking duo. Although the pace may be gradual, trust that this journey will be one of the most memorable you'll embark on. Give it a chance; you won't regret it.

I concur with xXLicorneXx's review. Although the writing is exceptional, I too felt misled by the intended audience. If you sense that it doesn't resonate with you, it's best to stop reading to avoid disappointment. For those who enjoyed the story, don't let our critique affect your positive impression. Just stick to the positive reviews.

The only redeeming aspect in this novel is the author's attempt to create a lighter narrative compared to their previous work. However, the concept of "lightness" didn't quite translate for me; elements like the stolen credits, character deaths, political intrigue, and the protagonists' backgrounds were far from lighthearted. The tragic backstories and unresolved endings for supporting characters, including the ML's, left me feeling unsatisfied. Even in comparison to "Malicious Empress," where at least one character got a satisfying conclusion, this story seemed lost, lacking direction.

I held on in hopes for the plot twists and villain paybacks, but without any standout moments, I've decided to move on. It's time to invest my time in stories that align better with my preferences, like perhaps "Ill-fated Consort."

I recently read the novel, originally written in my mother tongue, which was partially translated and partially machine-generated. My interest was piqued after watching the Chinese drama "The Legend of Female General," featuring actress Zhou Ye, who portrayed He Yan. I'm a big fan of Zhou Ye, which led me to explore her other projects, including this adaptation.

To my surprise, I found the book exceptionally captivating, despite the mixed translation quality. What struck me was its depth beyond just a revenge tale; it delved into themes of family, friendship, and camaraderie. The romantic aspect was beautifully portrayed with a slow-burning, yet heartfelt, development between the main characters, the ML (male lead) and FL (female lead). Their connection, though not always explicitly acknowledged, was profound, especially considering their intertwined lives across two lifetimes.

He Yan, the FL, was an endearing character that I adored. The ML, metaphorically referred to as "the moon" to her, provided unwavering support, illuminating her challenging path and offering comfort whenever she stumbled. The opening chapter dedicated to He Yan's first life and the poignant epilogue focusing on a side couple left me emotionally moved.

Having only seen snippets from the drama production, I am eagerly anticipating its release. Both actors, Zhou Ye and Ryan Cheng, have already captured my heart through their performances in the promotional videos.

I absolutely adore this novel; it ranks among my all-time favorites. I won't spoil the plot since you might have already guessed it from the synopsis provided earlier. The storytelling is exceptional, and I find every character engaging. Reading it has been a real delight, especially during these challenging times of COVID-19.

P.S. This review is specifically for "Rebirth of a Star General."

It's been a long time since I felt so emotionally invested in a novel's conclusion. I initially picked this one due to impatience for translations, but the storyline was clear despite the language barrier.

The characters truly resonated with me; their growth and the touching moments left me feeling quite melancholy. Each character had their unique background, adding depth to the narrative. I particularly loved the female lead's (FL) character; she was strong, assertive, innocent, and warm-hearted, yet resilient against her family's past. She didn't seek revenge, maintaining her independence and rationality, which I found admirable.

The FL's solo mission to Rundu, knowing He Rufei wouldn't send reinforcements, was thrilling. It showcased a FL who took matters into her own hands, something I wish to see more of in literature. And the ML, Xiao Jue, was a refreshing change – level-headed and focused on the bigger picture rather than personal emotions, making their relationship feel authentic.

While the initial mistrust between ML and FL was slow-building, it added realism to the romance. The ML supported her wholeheartedly, encouraging her to be true to herself. I confess, I developed a fondness for both the FL and ML.

The only slight drawbacks were the lengthy palace politics, which could be tedious in machine translation, and occasional overly-long flashback sequences. Despite these, I still gave the book a solid 5/5 rating. The story's pace improved after the MC's重生 arc, and the slow-burn romance, starting around Chapter 200, was a rewarding read for someone like me who prefers well-developed plots over rushed romances.

In summary, this novel stands out among Qian Shan Cha Ke's works, especially for its captivating character development and engaging plot. If you're looking for a strong female lead and a thoughtful romance, give it a try, keeping in mind that it's not your typical fast-paced love story. I'm now on the hunt for more books with such compelling FLs.

This novel is exceptional; it truly deserves a 5-star rating. Although I'm not particularly inclined to write reviews, especially since English isn't my first language, I felt compelled to share my thoughts. If you appreciate a vibrant protagonist who exhibits strength, loyalty, courage, and unwavering self-knowledge, then you'll undoubtedly enjoy this book.

It's truly heartbreaking to see her endure so much pain in both of her lives. I admire her strength and integrity, and she works tirelessly with unwavering determination. Despite the unfair treatments she endures, she remains resolute without becoming bitter or resentful, although seeking justice is understandable. Gradually, I am developing a favorable opinion of ML. The translators are doing an exceptional job, and their high-quality work is well worth the wait.
